When I try to 'Activate Windows now', I get the same notification 'The product key you typed has been blocked from use by Microsoft' To activate Windows 7 by phone if you are not online or by automatic activation if you are online on the internet, click on the Activate Windows now message. One of the notifications said to purchase a new license or run Windows Setup, I have run Setup, creating a new custom installation entering the Win7 Ultimate product key as before with automatic activation - Control Panel System Information has '3 days to automatic activation'. ![]() I have tried entering the original product key for Win7 Pro, but that does not work with the Ultimate edition. I tried the telephone activation service but was told that the 9-group identification number that appeared on the screen was not recognised. ![]() Today, I tried again and was able to enter the full key, but was notified that the key was blocked with the error code 0xC004C003. If you dont activate then, you will see an 'Activate Now' message every day from day four through day 27. When I attempted this initially, the dialog box would not accept numbers so I could not complete the process. According to a Microsoft developer blog post on 'Microsoft Developer Network,' if you dont choose to activate Windows 7 during installation, you will see an 'Activate Windows Online Now' message in the system tray. This has been running perfectly, but yesterday I had a notification that Windows was not activated and requesting that I purchase another key, with the option of re-entering the product key. Windows refused to boot so I installed a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate 64 that I had bought some years previously for another project but never used. A few months ago the motherboard failed and I eventually replaced it. On activation, a dialog box shows a confirmation message. I have a Dell T5500 workstation originally running Windows 7 Pro 64. At the elevated command prompt, type slmgr /ato and press Enter.![]()
